I’m restoring an Mk1 LeMans for a local chap. I suggested that he might want to look at new clutch plates etc, but he has got me a whole new upgrade clutch. I have installed it as per the instructions, which were extraordinarily limited. It claimed there was no requirement for a centering tool, but I have a hell of a job to get the gear box on. In the end I took all the studs back out and managed to get the box on without them and then with the gear spline bit engaged with the clutch, I wiggled the box around until I could get the dowels to locate. I then carefully removed the box, refitted the studs and then refitted the six clutch bolts at the correct torque. Having now got the box back on the clutch really doesn’t feel great. unfortunately the owner did a lot of the stripping of the bike before giving up and getting me on the job. It’s not a bike I’m familiar with. Had I stripped it I would have more idea what went where etc. I still have no idea where the clutch arm pivot is or what it looks like but have used a 7mm drill until I find what should be in there or make a pivot on the lathe.
Has anyone on here upgraded to this uber expensive clutch? Are there any pitfalls I should be looking at? Any pointers would be much appreciat
