Convert. tyres - Where?

My Convert’s tyres are not worn out but they are getting on a bit.

Can anyone point me in the direction of tyres of any make that have proved to be any good and at a reasonable price? 100x90x18 and 110x90x18.

Some of the Indian/Chinese tyres are supposedly reasonable nowadays. (can’t remember which ones)

Cheers, John.

I use Bridgestones BT45 (I think they are called BT46 now) on my Cali 3 and Metzeler Lasertecs on my Spada, both are similar sizes and work well for me.

If it helps, +1 for Lasertec I have them on the AJS Cadwell, nice tyres with nice ‘feel’ and grip.

BT45 on Cali 1100i and the newer BT46 on SP1000. Very happy with them. BTW they are quite a narrow tyre and I run a 120 on the rear.

Hi, Convert owner here too. I found Pirelli Sport Demons were pretty good, they came with the bike. After I wore these out I experimented with BT 45s. The Bridgestones are fine, perhaps not a grippy as the Pirelli’s were. When they wear out I will be going back to Sport Demons ( if they are available). Hope this helps.

After trying Avons (centre tread wore out in under 3,000 miles), Bridgestones (BT46 definitely a less good tyre than the BT45 it replaced) and Pirellis (great handling but ruinously short-lived), I have now settled on Metzeler RoadTec 01s on my V1000 G5 – same sizes as yours – and can vouch for them in every department: handling, longevity and price. The boys at Two Tyres will do you a good deal on a pair. Best of luck!

I would recommend the Metzelers they seem to have improved the stability on my t3 dont white-line or follow tar-seams or rain groves as much as it used to wet grip is good as well!.

I have Avon Roadriders on my T3 and BT46’s on my Spada

Roadriders - dont whiteline until very worn, good wet and dry grip, very stable

BT46 - Whiteline a bit even when new, better dry grip than Roadriders, similar in the wet similar stability.

I had BT 45s on my 1100 Sport and liked them so I’ve put BT 46s on my Tonti bitsa, yet to try them!
