Following on from the changes I have made to both my v855tt and my partner’s, it was pointed out that the modifications might prevent my bike from being mot’d. having checked on line it would appear not. It would appear that removing the cat from within an existing exhaust that was manufactured with one is illegal, but removing the exhaust and replacing it with one that was manufactured without a cat’ fitted is not. There is currently no actual check on motorcycle emissions other than noise and that is down to the individual tester. I have attached the current exhaust requirements for a Uk MOT test. So it would appear that decatting a motorcycle is not illegal as long as you change the exhaust to a road compliant one with no cat, rather than just cutting out the contents of the cat itself.

Super.
Thanks for taking the time to find that out.

My word
some actual commonsense from the Government for a change
its just a pity that all of the local harley owners feel the need to run with very very loud pipes
small pee pee syndrome
oddly a 1969 Electraglide passes me most days, and you barely hear it
its a joy to see, like new

My loop is almost silent on tickover. You can tell it is running by the gentle handlebar vibrations and the Veglia bouncing all over the place. Starts making a little noise around 30 ish- more like a purring noise.
