Err…the collector/cat box on the V100 is stainless.

It certainly didn’t look stainless, the one I saw anyway.

I can assure you it is. I’ve got one.

Then it must be poor maintenance by the owner. As I mentioned earlier.

Stainless comes in different grades - most collector boxes and headers that are stainless will ginger with exposure to heat and water but not actually rust. My old Ducati Monster exhaust headers and collector looked rusty, but polished up to mirror finish with little effort.

Think my V7 has a stainless one, looked blummin rough when I bought it, but a dose of Solvol Autosol, and a rub down has it shining again :slightly_smiling_face:

Somewhat non sequitur.. proper analogue clocks! I miss those really bad!

Interesting thing is there is good evidence from the aircraft world that the brain can interpret an analogue dial almost sub conciously. Yeah, you can replicate that somewhat with computer graphics but.. sorry, it ain’t the same! We are becoming screen addicted. I glance inside some of the latest 4 wheel cockpits.. all straight lines, plastic and bland.

It’s a consumer driven world though. Dunno about you all but I suspect many of you like me grew up resurrecting bangers just to keep them on the road, watching my old man dressing up valve seats on a cylinder head on the living room floor etc. Learning all the time. Nowadays significant numbers of drivers and a few riders have next to zero idea what actually makes the wheels go round? It shows in their driving too.

At times I wish I could afford to just run to the dealership for everything. Routine maintenance included when it is brass monkeys or dark outside but… I am a die hard like many of you. I like to ‘know’ exactly what has been done and what the other bits you see while doing it are surviving. I like to seee my machinery with their clothes off! :smiling_face_with_sunglasses: OOps! Hope that doesn’t get me censored again!

Am with you there Phila.. especially on the word ‘clocks’..

But I best not re-start the ‘clocks’ v ‘instruments’ argument.. :compass: that discussion is even more intense that the GuzziFest/AGM one :rofl:
