In the process of an engine out service I wished to change the contact breaker to base plate fixing screws. All the screws are M4 screws apart from 2 which fix the left hand contact breaker down. These are smaller, 3.4mm with 0.6mm thread. They are not available from Gutsibits for example and they have no information on them.
Has any one else had this problem?
MY bike: 1000 SP 1978.
By the way, the M4 screws supplied by Gutsibits are longer than the originals and they foul the bob weight posts when fitted. I had to cut them down! Gutsibits are now aware. Its just as well that I had the thing in bits, otherwise I would not have found this problem.
Thanks.
Have you tried an Internet search? I just did and got loads of hits for M3.5 screws. E.g. kayfast on eBay 3.5 x 0.6 pitch, lengths 5mm to 30mm.
I get most if not all my fasteners from kayfast (Kay’s Fasteners).
