Down to Earth?

For those new(er) to the Guzzi fold.
1: Guzzis have a reputation for electrical faults. Many (if not most) of these are down to inadequate/poor earthing.
2: On newer bikes the electronics are sensitive to poor earthing; this can affect charging, ECUs etc.
3: Spend an afternoon/evening checking earth tabs either with a multimeter set to OHMS or a simple 12v bulb with two wires and a couple of clips attached.
4: As a matter of course, routine maintenance remove, clean, refit and protect earth points (there’s a few of them on most Guzzis.
5: If you have a bike with an ECU do what most Cali EV riders have done and attach a good earth strap to the ECU case.
6: If in doubt ASK :bulb:

  1. It also does no harm to fit an earth strap to the starter motor and the rectifier.
Electrics really are simple, 'cos I can do 'em.

On my old Guzzis I link all the various earth points together with a heavy wire which has one end bolted to the engine block and the other at the fixing for the battery earth strap. Nothing actually relies on an earth connection through the frame alone. Belt and braces me!

My kind of approach :bulb:
