Fork oil replacement

Hi is there an easy way to refill the fork oil or do I need to remove the wheel etc and take the forks apart it seems the oil will not pass past the damper and stays in the top of the fork leg

Hey welcome Trev.

Mostly I take the forks out myself (often as I’m replacing a duff seal), but I have done it with a suction hose thingiemebob.. with a little application it seemed to work quite nicely. :+1:

Hi Trev
The trick is to do it one side at a time. Remove the instrument binnacle, loosen the pinchbolt, and undo the large plug nut at the top of the staunchion on the left side with a 14mm hex. Take the bike off the stand and allow the forks to compress under its weight – help it along by pushing down gently on the handlebars. The fork internals on the left will rise, allowing you to pour the specified quantity of ATF – not fork oil – into the space that reveals itself. Replace the nut. Repeat on the right hand side. Done.

thanks for the advice i will try that method over the weekend
