Garmin mount

I’m going to change the Tom Tom sat nav for a Garmin 550 or 660. Has any one fitted one to a Norge as with the forged handle bars you cannot use a clamp so it has to fit between the bars ala Tom Tom. So I am trying to find a bracket that would do the job.

If you google RAM mounts for Zumo you will find something to do the job.

Cheers Guy
Tried that. Just thought if someone had already fitted one and there feed back

I bought garmin mount from amazon put the info in either none oem eqpt or frequently asked qns I think, Amazon have a fair few solutions I bought a waterproof bag fully tested last year in Wales it mounts to a clamp

I use it with one of these a heck of alot cheaper than the TT/Garmin bike ones I hear it clearly with Arai full face and earplugs and can work the touch screen with Winter gloves on, it has worked well for over a year in all sorts of weather.

A much cheaper option any sat nav with touch screen will work with the holder/bag total cost under £100 …as opposed to over £500…done deal guzzibear2012-05-22 18:27:35

Interesting. I will look into those. Thanks Mr Bear

No idea if it will do the job but Amazon had a fair few options

I made one up to go between the screen adjuster screws, worked extremely well, just a bit of 3mm ally with a right angle bend at either end and some holes drilled.
I did have to get a Garmin mounting bracket for my unit though, not much from Amazon.

Exactly my set up Ken! Small minds eh. I transfer it between both bikes, the car and my motorhome. Two years on and no problems.

Did the same thing on my Norge - click on the link below.

I’m looking around for a new GPS… just to do the last mile navigation - I’m looking at the MIO Navman Mio M448Car Navigation - 4.3" Display - One-Point Touch - Traffic Message Channel (TMC) - USB 1 offer was found for £59.90It looks too cheap to be true… any opinions, the reviews on line seem to be good.

Tesco were selling Garmin wide screen for £59 ish as is Halfords on line, I thought my old one had died and new maps were 50 quid so got the newer Garmin then just tried a link to Garmin and upgrade and presto the old wide screen one came back, this was AFTER going to a couple of repairers who told me it was U/S

Lesson there IF you have a sat nav that dies, go to the makers site and plug in then do a system download …

What I like about the Garmin wide screen ones is the touch screen works through the waterproof bag and I can hear it with lid and ear plugs in I also use it in the dashboard mode as it gives an accurate speedo display if I am not needing the nav bit, Mind you a Sigma bike speedo on the V1000 is brilliant

Sometimes Tesco in store are cheaper than the net offers I got mine from a Big Tesco in Chilwell Nottsguzzibear2012-05-23 11:43:32

Things to note on Sat Navs,
what area do they cover? Cheapies normally only the UK & ROI, European maps cost more.
Live traffic data, lifetime subscription or plus annual sub?

You can read loads of reviews of the Mio on the Halfords website. Probably also on Amazon.
