I have a 2024 V7 850 that has done a little over 3000miles ,just had it serviced and found out the gear linkage has some play in it . They have greased it up pretty well , but said its not covered by the warrantee ,has anyone else had a similar problem and if so how was it delt with or is it just accepted that play is normal ? .
Not covered after only 3K.!
That’s pants eh.
In 1986 I did 24,000 miles in the first 12 months on my FZ750, I had all sorts replaced under warranty .. including ‘consumables’ like discs & silencers..
I’d ask them to show me the written exclusion in the warranty documentation. Failing that, get yourself onto eBay and look at M3 (anyone?) rose joints and associated threaded linkages - it’s not an uncommon upgrade on older Guzzis to replace these linkages with something better (but that doesn’t excuse that 3000 mile reply).
Grease doesn’t fix free play, really, huh?
If it helps - I have recently seen a photo of a snapped off ball joint (at the threaded stud) apparently this is not unusual - I have just bought left and right threaded rose joints to try out, from eBay, the thread is M6. But, no play in my OEM joints that I know of, at 5,000 miles.
Thank you i have a friend who also has a v7 and he is in the process of trying to source a couple of spares for both of us. But agree not a good response from dealer but not surprising ,just had a problem with my car and main dealer couldn’t care less! Seems to be way of the world nowdays…sadly!
