I see you’ve not had much of a response. I’ve done some of the route when I came down the “Romantic way” into the route through Oberammergau. Stayed at the Alte Post which was very good if not a little pricy. I then went on to tour Mad King Ludvigs castles, notably Neuschweinstein. Next stop was at Hotel am Hopfensee, a little off your route but this too was very nice (PS Google says it’s temporarily closed). In fact I dont think Ive stayed in a bad German hotel. Went on to lake Constance/Bodensee. Lindau is lovely but we stayed at a B & B in Kreuzlingen but it’s walking distance to Konstance. We then carried on to the Rheinfall which is well worth extending your journey for.
Happy riding.
It does look like a fab ride, my ‘to do’ list has grown.!
So far as accommodation generally, when the wifee and I travel we seldom book in advance, preferring instead to ‘find ourselves somewhere nice’ and decide we’ll stop there for the evening. We typically ride into somewhere interesting, get on Booking.com/Trivago etc and search for the best we can find for our budget.
Obviously if high season this may not be so simple, but the method hasn’t failed us so far, indeed we’ve had some real bargains in lovely hotels.
