Goodbye - at least for now!

With some sadness I made the decision recently to trade-in my Mandello S for a bigger, more touring specific bike with softer suspension as I’m planning a few European tours this summer and the Mandello was just too firm a ride for my arthritis on long tours.

In the right circumstances I’ve LOVED the Mandello, but outside of a specific comfort-zone, it was too hard work for me (not the bike’s fault, just my age related limitations).

I had tried hard to adapt the Mandello to my needs through lower (heated) seats, handlebar risers, taller screen etc, but sadly it didn’t work, so I needed to change.

As a result I will be selling off some of the recent accessories I purchased including:

  • Mandello touring screen (Guzzi made). Used for 6 months but unmarked
  • Puig touring screen (unused)
  • lowered heated rider seat and accompanying passenger ‘comfort’ seat in black to match the black heated seat (fitted for about three months).

I’ll post these on the ‘for sale’ section in due course, but feel free to contact me if interested in the meanwhile.

Happy riding all! It’s been a pleasure and I hope to meet some of the Yorkshire crew up at Seaways on future Saturdays - don’t be strangers!

Paul.

I’m interested in which risers you found for the Mandello. I have a Stelvio which is already quite upright but I want to move the bars back towards me.

Hoping you’ve found an appropriate product that can keep the same height as the originals (pictured) but with greater offset.

Thanks
Barney

Hi Barney I fitted the rather expensive ones from Helibars. No wiring changes, keeps the lovely engraved Mandello bar clamp and did the job very nicely, well up to a point for me anyway!

@Manalishi What bike have you gone for? I want to trade-in my V7 for the same reason. I’ve test-ridden the Stelvio but was put off by the “loud clunk and lurch” when engaging first gear from rest, and the amount of heat around my legs.

Thanks.

A 1250 RT Stuart. It’s totally different inasmuch as any two ‘sports touring’ bikes can be poles apart. The V100 was a lot lighter, more nimble, much more entertaining engine sound and a very individual style with good airflow in hot weather. On a hot summers day ride around the twisties I’ll miss the Guzzi, no question, clunky gearbox or not.

The RT has everything else in bucket loads, power, comfort, weather protection, smooth gearbox, rider ergonomics (like seating position for a shorty like me, glove compartment and wireless phone charging compartment, plus central locking for the luggage and the compartments and so on and on…). Outside of mid-summer and on long journeys I’ll be glad to be on the Beemer - horses for courses for me with my arthritis.

As promised, most of the V100 accessories are now up for sale on Marketplace. Feel free to message me with any queries or interest.

Thanks.
