Hi
I’ve got a Griso 1200se , 2011, with a charging problem.
Last two trips out, within 20 miles, the main 30A fuse has blown, resulting in no charge to the battery.
The fuse is situated under the seat, rear of the battery as a set of two. It is the left one looking forwards that blows.
I’m thinking it could be a bad earth on the battery, or possibly a bad connection on the fuse fitting it’s self.
Any help or ideas would be very much appreciated thanks.
Steve
Hi
It is hard to see how a bad connection or bad earth could blow the fuse., a fuse can blow through old age as vibration work hardens the loop of metal in it. But you say a 2nd one has gone so that is very unlikely?
Usually a fuse can only blow because the circuit it is in has a dead short to earth between the fuse and the load it goes to.
a 30a fuse blowing is dangerous as as 30a at 12v is over 300w of heating, - real risk of fire!
You need to look for damaged or exposed wire and, - you should be looking for charred insulation and other signs of burning.
Have you got a wiring diagram? If not you can get them from the links on GRiSO ghetto
there are two “Main fuses” one on a green and red wire that comes from the alternator and also goes to the key switch and ecu, the other on a red and white wire that goes to every other power circuit on the bike.
Hope you find it before serious damage

Thanks Jon, yes i hoped for a simple fix really, but i reckon its going to be a bit of a strip down. Hopefully it’ll be easy to find.
There is a junction of wires with a terminal at the back of the battery compartment on the engine side, this has caused problems to others with Stelvios. Check it our and cover it in gell - just remove the rubber cushion thing to get to it when the battery is out. Also copper slip the earth bolt to the engine behind the starter motor. this has been a problem with Brevas too. My Stelvio would start get you to B and then refuse to start again!

Thanks for that, I’ll be sure to check that out asap.
