Has it had roller conversion?

Afternoon all,
I bought a low mileage (14K) 1200 GT 8v Norge a little while ago, I am going through it with a fine tooth comb over the winter, as I found a few dubious repairs when I first got it. I currently have the tappet covers off for Cerakoting, and although told by previous owner that the roller conversion has been done, I was wondering if you can tell without stripping it down, or are there certain later models that were ok? Mine is a 2014 model.
Thanks for any advice given, I have always had Aprilia’s in the past and look to the Guru’s of all things Guzzi Norge for help please?
Thanks again.
Westy

Not 100% sure it was in here, but I know I’ve seen other owners describe how to spot the signs. Recommend a search on “roller” and a read through the results. Having said that, someone will surely be along after tea.

Thanks Barry

If it is genuinely a 2014 model it should not have had a roller conversion, it should have come from factory with rollers fitted, surely?
Easy to see. If you can’t figure it out by looking, by now there are thousands of photos on the web. You’ll find with a quick search.

I looked for hours before asking mate, they all look the same unless you know what to look for. If it was a v twin Aprilia I know them like the back of my hand, but these are new to me and best to ask those whom know best egh?

No worries :+1: Glad you’ve got a rollerised one.

Hello Westie, The following info is available on guzzitech.com; According to Piaggio, motorcycles produced after these specific Serial Numbers / Production Dates, have the implemented design change valve train, and are “roller” engines.

Model - Engine Designation - Last 5 Digits of Serial Number - Date of Production

Stelvio - AC - After AC12596 - 03/12/2012
Griso - A8 - After 13524 - 04/12/2012
Norge - AA - After 12214 - 04/18/2012

Hope this helps! D

According to Pete Roper (who was an official Guzzi Dealer during those years) you cannot rely on that data. Some were factory roller earlier than stated and some were not rollered after.
Later ones are probably right but vIsual check needed in all cases.

Sorry but i don’t want anyone to buy a CARC bike relying on the numbers then find out it wasn’t rollerised and there are no more conversion kits.
