Headlight dip beam Mandello V100S

Haven’t done much night riding with the Mandello but had the joy of riding the mainly unlit, single carriageway A1 in Northumberland the other night.

Spent most of the run being flashed by articulated lorries and their array of blinding lights.

Headlights were dipped. When I got home I checked the lights against the garage door and they have the same spread on the right as on the left. I would have expected a cut off on the right.

Is this normal ? Has anyone else experienced this ?

Yes this is normal for both Ducati and Moto Guzzi. Makes it important to adjust so the dipped beam in the straight ahead position sits just below a normal car’s (not SUV or 4x4) door mirror. As the beam is shaped in a descending curve from the centre, this means it won’t dazzle if you ride to the right or left of oncoming traffic.

And how do you adjust them? Easy or dismantle the whole front end?

I have a Stelvio, your Mandello may be different. Best read the owners manual?

Had to find the owners manual first! But, looks fairly straightforward, couple of screws, different screws for the high beam though… Not really been out in the dark either. :person_shrugging:

I had the same issue with my new Stelvio.

On checking, I found the dipped beam was set much higher than permitted by the regulations, so presumably wasn’t checked during the PDI. Adjusted per the manual and it has been fine since.

yeah a lot of cars and bikes now are a fixed beam shape for uk and euro, no bias.

Last time i was driving 4 wheels in Europe I used the little dial meant for when the van has a heavy load on, to drop them as low as possible, never had any hassle with police or other drivers flashing.
