Hepco and Becker crash bars

Good morning. Have any V85tt owners fitted Hepco and Becker crash bars to a 2024 onward model? The instructions are useless and there’s no youtube tutorial for 2025 or 2024 model. The main problem is the left hand side fitting by the fuel line. H&B provided an extension plate with no real guidance on how to use it! I cannot physically see the contact point for the bar, no cap to remove to expose a thread.

I looked into the crash bar options for my 2024MY E5+ V85. I came to the conclusion that the genuine Guzzi bars were the best value and most likely require less head-scratching to fit.

Good luck - I wish I could offer some tangible advice.

Regards,
Jon

Cheers Jon. I’ve managed to fit them now. The air turned blue on several occasions. Hepco and Becker fail to tell you that you need to employ the services of a 5 year old with tiny hands to enable the bolts to be fitted in very confined spaces. They really are the worst crash protection i have ever fitted, and ive been riding for around 44 years. I wouldnt recommend!

I’d absolutely agree with your assessment of fitting the H&B bars. Double jointed tiny hands or three different length extension wobble bars required just to get access to the n/s rear screw…
And sorry to be the bearer of bad news, but whilst they look good they seem to be pretty average at their job. My bike, parked under a heavy duty cover, was blown over in a storm last winter. Little damage, except to the offside bar - which was pushed up against the valve cover. Saved the cover I suppose, but it had to come off to get access to the valves. That side was easily done, but I’ve been riding around for months now putting off tackling the n/s one…

Hi. Thats bad luck. I dont think they would have to come off under normal circumstances in order to get to the valves, only if damaged. Mine goes in for its first service on Tuesday. I wouldn’t recommend the brand.

One of the factors for buying the bike was that it looked to have easy access for valve servicing. Its actually not as good as it looks as you need to raise the tank slighty to get the covers off. The distorted crash bar tight against the cover would have made the job impossible.

I agree. In hindsight i should have stayed with the guzzi oem crash bars which are a better design and a bit cheaper!

I’ve got the OEM crash bars and have had a couple of drops off road and one on road (on ice) that bent the brake pedal slightly, left a barely noticable scratch on the right hand bar, no other damage. they definitely work

Glad to hear it. I dropped my previous v85tt on slick grass in France. Same thing, brake pedal slightly bent and i scuff on the oem bars. Arh well, you live and learn! No dodgy surfaces for me, im sticking to the tarmac!
