I hope to check my timing soon, looking in Haynes and MG workshop manuals they say to check it with a strobe at 6000 to 6200 rpm. As I don’t generally rev it that high isn’t fully advanced reached at a lower revs?

There is method I have seen “tune up guide for shade tree mechanic” which gives timing marks at 1200, 2200 and 3600. Will this be the same on a G5?

The advance curve stops at 4500 rpm so that’s as far as you need to rev it to get full advance.
