I joined Moto Guzzi Club GB last summer and bought my first Moto Guzzi, a V7 II Special, soon after. It’s the first bike I’ve owned since selling my 1996 Suzuki Bandit 20+ years ago.
I chose a Guzzi for my return to biking for sentimental reasons connected with my late parents. My dad had plenty of bikes over the years but the one I remember most fondly was a brown 1981 V50 III, which he bought in the late 80s and sold in the mid 90s.
I’d love to know if it’s still around and this forum seems as good a place as any to start my search. The plate was RPB 389X. An online check revealed its current status as SORN, the last log book having been issued in 2012.
So, does it by any chance belong to a fellow Club GB member? If it does, I’d love to hear from you.
Are there any MOT records online? If you can find the area it was last MOT’d you could try asking in bikers groups for that area on Facebook. A brown V50 isn’t a common thing, someone might remember seeing it.
Thanks for suggestion, Steve. The extent of the MOT info that I can access on the GOV UK site is when the last MOT was issued and its expiry date (June 2011). To access full MOT history including test locations, I’d need to provide the bike’s log book reference number. I’ll give it a week or so to see if anyone else responds on here then maybe post on the Facebook page for MoGu owner groups around Kent, which is where Mum & Dad were living at the time of sale.
