I’m taking a trip down to Lake Maggiore at the end of Sept and will be popping over to Mandelllo for a museum trip all being well . Sadly not on bike but in a car and would like to here of anyone’s experience of staying on lake Maggiore , good town to stay , accommodation? Any pointers grateful

I Airbnb’d in Colico; took the train down to Mandello (30 minutes down the lake). Accomodation in Mandello was quite sparse when I was looking.
Colico is on Como rather than Maggiore.
Last time I stayed, my brother booked a place next to red beards castle at maggiana up on the hill, through Air BNB, was rather nice and the view was great just to the left of this picture
We stayed on Como, so perhaps not what you want. Hth anyway
Park Hotel, Lecco, which was comfortable but a bit pricy, with an easy train ride to Mandello.
Albergo Villa Edy in Tremezzo, which had stunning views, a swimming pool, and nice breakfasts, but you need wheels & a ferry to get to Mandello.
If you are heading for this lake (Maggiore) look at Stresa for accommodation - use booking .com to view - most are super hotels and the town has good eating and entertainment…
I was sent there by work to attend a conference on duplex stainless steels. I went every year thereafter until they stopped using the towns conference centre- funny that hey? Easy drive from Milan as well if you hire a car… Also had a meal at the hotel on the island…lovely place… Enjoy your trip
Thank you for the heads up , since my post I have booked a super little spot in the centre of Stressa - we are driving down so lots of options to chose from for outings
