Just a tad fed up now!

Life might be easier single but believe me the getting there part is a nightmare --now where did i put that shotgun

I would run a single pipe from handle bar down to caliper (I use Hel) and the switch on mine was built into the banjo on the master cylinder that way less places to catch the air

Could be a faulty switch it happens, could be faulty hose, could be faulty bleed nipple could be air getting in at a banjo, whthout it in front of you no way of telling.

With brakes all you need is a tiny bit of grit. I very much doubt if it is “trapped” air more like a n air leak air getting into the system.

The “Usual” place for an air bubble to sit is behind the brake piston, which is WHY reverse bleeding is used it elliminates THAT one the whole thing should take under 1 minute.

Once you start replacing bits before “proving” it back you open all sorts of possibilities.

At least out of the bike IF just swapping the hose over does NOT get a result , take the whole lot to a hydraulic specialist they will sort it in under half an hour.

Sorry to hear of these troubles buddy. I am soooo lucky to have a partner that has her own bike and is always 100% behind any work to be done on the bikes OR cars…

Good point!

Can I borrow it after you Ray!A single pipe sounds like a good plan if a bench test fails.Ken, you are a very lucky man, I am so jealous.

Have you seen the size of Annie’s thumb?

On the bench you can just put the mast cyl -hose -caliper to prove the hose

If all good then add the joint if not you have your answer mate

With Annie it was 3rd time lucky …guzzibear2013-08-21 22:50:40

I just went out to take the brake line off to work on it on the bench and found I’d got a stiffy! I’d left it with rubber bands on the lever and upon their removal I found a working brake. Trouble is I don’t know if I can trust it, so am leaving it till tomorrow to see if it is still hard.As an aside, how does putting bands on the lever remove air?

It doesn’t, but it does push the pistons out of the caliper and into contact with the discs and that’s what gives you the stiffy you so desire.Pumping with your right hand should have the same desired effect.Don-Spada2013-08-22 21:05:26

my link brakes played the same tricks on me, i tied the pedal down to a heavy trolley jack and gave up for a few days

came back to perfect firm pedals

if you get some brakes I would put brakes on full and lock them in position and leave over night then try again

i had the same problem with a cal i,i bought a brake bleeder which fits to a spare tyre, and it all worked ok.

Hows the front brake holding up

I haven’t touched the bike since I fitted your master cylinder Ray - too busy sorting the house, but I can report that the brake is still rock hard, as it should be.Should you need the parts back, just give me a poke and they will be in the post.

Kinda proves the point tho’ mate it HAS to be the “New” master cylinder that was the issue all along.

nope don’t need then till I get the Spada replacement built over the winter so will if I remember where it is will give you a shout when required

One problem though GB, Gutsibits have tested it and say it’s OK.I still reckon it didn’t feel smooth in operation and am concerned about swarf in the works, as in other thread. So, when I get this house finished I will dismantle it and have a look.

Don’t care I would just get 'ornery and get it sorted … Rays one proves your point mate I would NOT even think about taking it apart it would go back and I WILL say I am a fan of Gutsibits BUT as I told you aaaages ago my V1000 has a Honda 250 fromt brake mast cyl round, looks like a brembo one works job done and a hell of alot less dosh than a guzzi one. but then I can be a bit …erm… forcefull … sorry but hey…

Ken, be honest, you just threaten them with Annie.

Noo to be fair I have never needed to, any time something has had to be sent back ALL the Guzzi dealers/vendors have replaced or refunded no problem at all.

I rarely have had faulty or wrong parts to be fair. In fact I was speaking to ed from Gutsibits some time ago and mentioned one of the speedos i had was wildly innacurate on my V1000 he straight away said send it back, BUT I tried it on a different bike and it was within 5% So we did a swap as the one he had was out, on my bike it was within tolerance… no idea why that would be. The ONLY explaination I can think of is as the Convert has a different gearing to the G5 there MUST be a difference in the speedo ratio, but that is clutching at a very thin straw, but it is all I can think of as everything else is the same.
