Just gets better.

So a quick update on my 2022 v85tt. (E5) .I have put about 200 miles on the bike since fitting the Mistral de-cat which despite being beautiful and undeniably better made, is no better (to my senses) than the Chinese version that is over £400 cheaper that I fitted first. The much derided (on some Guzzi sites that slag it off and then offer their own solution) v-boost, plug in, fuel modifier that I obtained from Gutsi bits has made a dramatic difference. It is absolutely NOT a perfect cure for the crap low rev, throttle response, but the difference definitely justified the £115 price tag. The bike will now sit happily at 2k revs, although a noticeable improvement is to take up the ‘slack’ in the throttle at lower revs when cruising at low speed in town etc, (I know there is no cable and it shouldn’t make a difference) but holding the throttle at the point where it is ready to accelerate does smooth out the low speed running. Significant to say, we have another v boost on order for Elaine’s bike. The replacement silencer I had ordered (Storm) turned up but was damaged. I have sent it back. I can see no reason to have the offered replacement. The bike is running really well on the de-cat, standard silencer and v-boost set up with a significant increase in mid range and low end power. The exhaust note is definitely ’fruitier’ without being offensive. The bike absolutely prefers to be properly warmed up, a situation that I as a 62 year old biker with more than 40 yrs in the saddle I am more than used to. Although these days a lot of riders seem to expect perfect running from the second they hit the starter. The v85tt in my eyes at least, is probably one of the very last, old school, air cooled motorcycles and is struggling to keep up with increasingly draconian emission regulations. But while we still have the freedom to do what best suits the bike, I believe it will take some beating. Needless to say. I will not be replacing her in a hurry and Elaine and I are looking to tour Iceland next year on our bikes. !

Good to know all the mod,s are working well together. Im still debating about trying to de-cat the down pipes. Im sure access to the cat itself will be easier. But whilst i mull it all over i may invest in a v-boost regardless. Either way im keeping her and will sort the erratic running out eventually

Sadly, these days, too many people expect an ‘instant’ fix. Maybe for them, a Guzzi is not the bike they need. My v85tt is not as fast, smooth or as responsive as the 2023 v-Strom 650 that I part exchanged for it. Would I swap back? :joy: Nope. I would rather gouge my own eyes out with a spoon! :joy::rofl::joy::rofl::joy::rofl:

I hate the people who are, more power, more power, I want more power.
I wanted a comfortable motorcycle that I could ride for long distances, I wanted a middle weight motorcycle. I wanted a low maintenance drive train and had two proper headlights. The v85tt ticked off all the boxes plus I had panniers from my previous BMW F800, they fit this bike, every time I ride , I feel the smile on my face.
