Lake Como Ride

I wonder if anyone can offer recommendations or general info about hiring a bike to ride round Lake Como ? Hoping to visit the factory museum in June and combine with a ride around the lake.

Much appreciated.

Colin.

You can hire a Guzzi from Agostinis in Mandello

Cheers, many thanks.

To stay, I highly recommend

A good route is to ride round to the opposite side of the lake and take the ferry back over. You need to hire for 6 hours to leave a margin. You need to find the lakeside road and avoid being funnelled into the tunnels. I hired a V100 from Agostinis.

Can you please stop posting stuff about going to Mandello.. my credit card is twitching.!

I will be heading there in 3 weeks :smiling_face_with_sunglasses:

Please stop… :money_mouth_face:

The tourist board publish a set of recommended motorbiking routes around Mandello and Lecco, they look quite helpful:

I am concerned that the museum is not open at present because of factory redevelopment. Anyone got knowledge ?

Colin

Thanks for sharing. I will be trying out a couple of these.

I have just booked and received confirmation for my visit at the end of May.

May I ask how you did the booking ?

Regards.

Online at this website: https://www.motoguzzi.com/en_EN/tradition/museum/

It would appear that you can only book for Fridays and Saturdays in May, I hope that it is just they haven’t got around to entering more dates yet!

I went there twice on a Friday once in the late 70’s and again in the 90’s and the factory and museum were shut in the afternoon until the following week. I have now visited when the museum was open and it is well worth the trip!

Hi all New member here- Done the museum twice, driven to Como 3 times so I can give some advice.

1- Museum: is open week days at 15:00 to 16:00 they ask you to book but I just turned up. The tour will be in Italian unless the chap feels kind and explain in English. Weekends are all day but need to book.

2- I stay at a small town north of Como called Tirano ( foot hills of the Stelvio pass) plenty of Air BNB, you could also do the Bernina express train to St Moritz, take the cheaper red train and not the actual Bernina (expensive). Tirano is lovely, cheap food and cheaper to stay compared to Como. There is a train into Como but you can drive or bike it (45 min)

3- if riding round Como, the more interesting touristy bit is the other ‘leg’ western side- the other side of Mandello De Lario. Don’t forget to Ferry across to Bellagio, it’s pretty out there.

Ask away any questions😁 if any of you fancy going in October, I would love to hear from you.
