Le Mans MK2 Frame number

Hi, I am looking at purchasing a Le Man’s Mk2. I have requested the frame number from the seller of the bike I am considering to purchase and have been told that it is EV-E*24179, so I am concerned that this bike didn’t start it’s life as a Le Mans. Would I be correct in this assumption? Can anyone advise me on this please?

‘VE’ = Le Mans 1975 – 1980.

There is no ‘EV’. He could have simply got the letters back to front.

Edit: the actual number seems to be in the right range.

Thank you Mike, I will re check with the owner of the bike.

How were correct Mike, he rechecked and had got the letters back to front so it is a Le Mans. Thank you,
