LM2 exhaust options

What I believe are my original Lafraconi Competizione silencers are starting to rattle internally so loud that the bike turns heads for the wrong reasons and I was wondering what my options are. These silencers seem unavailable anymore at the moment so are there any others worth considering? I have discounted the Keihan ones as they don’t sweep up the same as the Lafranconis. I like the look of the Zard system but it is expensive and looks like I may need to lose the passenger footrests. Are there any others or is there somewhere or a custom builder someone can recommend?
I could get my current silencers split, the baffle plates re-welded and then the seams re-welded?
Any advice gratefully received

If you can find one get a Wittner 2-1 that runs a short Supertrapp can. Awesome dude.

Gutsibits show Lanfraconi silencers on their website - reference EXA14998 is the black ones.

Thanks RR but the Lafranconis listed by Gutsibits are for expression of interest only and have been for some considerable time now.
Thanks Cyclobutch- I have added that Wittner one to my search criteria

Anyone tried splitting a silencer and free repairing the baffles?

Wish they wouldn’t do that. Is it for sale or not? If not take it off. :unamused:

Baldrick has a Wittner pipe. Can’t imagine you would be able to separate him from it though.

Thought about Keihan? http://www.keihan.co.uk/catalogue.html#

Thanks for the heads up and I may start work on him bribery, emotional blackmail, digestives, whatever it takes. I may have access to a Supertrapp silencer so could be good to go.

I did look at them Chris but don’t like the look for the LM models. I think they suit the T3/Spada better. I also am not certain about the quality of the Keihan stuff.some of the pictures I see show corrosion, including rust on some of the joints. My brother has one fitted to his BMW R80/GS and the internal baffles have disintegrated (a bit like my Lafranconis :open_mouth: )

O&S pipes might be worth a look

Have you tried Armours in Bournemouth? Phil

Had a look at both business websites and Armours don’t seem to list an option for the LM Phil. OSMC could be a possibility and I will speak to them and explore what they can offer so thank you for the heads up Malc.

Thanks Lemon but they are expressions of interest only at the moment, seemingly like every other MG specialist that stocks Lanfranconi. :frowning:

whoops sorry.
Here’s an idea: buy the Zards and I’ll swap with my Lanfranconis???

It’s usually worth a chat with Stein Dinse in Germany. They would probably give you a realistic idea of your chances of getting original Lafranconis in any reasonable timescale. I noticed Teo Lamers were also out of stock.

What tends to happen is that someone stumps up the cash to get a batch of spare parts made, once they can see enough demand. In my experience Steine Dinse are plugged into this system and seem to know what is going on around Europe.

I don’t know if LM3 exhausts might fit, at least temporarily? They might not look right, but Teo Lamers seem to have a second hand pair available for not much money. You could maybe fit them while you wait for a better option.

I would suggest if you find someone who could do this not too expensively and it was successful it would be a good way to go. There must be a lot of lanfrancs thrown away due to internals rotting. Then put his/ her details on here and he/she may get some extra trade…
Alternatively I know you said you didn’t want Keihin but I think they also make a lanfranc copy.
A mate had a 2 into 1 with a supertrapp - looked wrong (Probably ok on a full race bike) so he changed for a Zard which is super nice but sadly too expensive.
