Long-time Moto Guzzi enthusiast - now on my 3rd !

New to the Moto Guzzi Club GB - but not to Moto Guzzi bikes, just joined the club.

Bought a 2025 V100 Mandello S late last year so not got many miles on it yet.

Love the bike though - even after just c.400 miles in my ownership.

Can’t fault supplying dealer - A&D Motorcycles - great people to do business with.

I am 62, and have had motorcycles in my blood and owned many - since I was eight years old. I started riding trials bikes with a TY 80 and went through that usual progression off-road until I was riding a 250cc off-road at 16 - when I could get my license to ride a 50cc bike on the road.

That was a Yamaha FS1E, and I did the usual progressions through many bikes, but included a Honda 250 RS, a Honda 400/4 a Yamaha SR 500, a Laverda Montjuic and then a Moto Guzzi Le Mans I.

I started racing bikes, including Yamaha RD 250 LC’s and then the 350 LC, and got into the 500 cc racing scene with my old Laverda Montjuic, which then progressed into riding a Laverda 750 SF on the track and then more successfully a RickmanTriumph 750 in classic racing.

I still kept the Moto Guzzi Le Mans but then traded it in for a Laverda RGS1000 Corsa for the road. A move to the continent followed and I found myself doing endurance racing on many different but quick bikes - most notably on a Brüll framed Laverda 1200 (a Mirage engine) as well as exploring Europe on the Corsa.

Stopped racing (still do the odd Classic parade or meet) after a Yamaha FZ 750 spat me off at Thruxton. Was quite badly injured but thankfully recovered. After that, I was never quite as competitive.

In 1990, I bought a 3 year old low mileage BMW R80 and covered North Africa and much of Europe on the Weatern side of the Iron Curtain and made it up to the Arctic circle and Finland one summer.

I put just over 92,000 miles on that bike before, just two days back from my travels - it was totalled by being side-swiped by a London Taxi pulling a U turn.

A second hand Moto Guzzi Le Mans II replaced it, through the insurance money - and I had that for a good few years, although eventually cars became my usual transport at aged 31 after I finally took my car test! The Guzzi was sold for a Ford Fiesta! :man_shrugging:

Many, many bikes passed through my hands in the years following with a very eclectic range of motorcycles from old triumph Classics through to very modern Japanese and Italian bikes. The last Moto Guzzi I still owned (a Griso) was sold in 2014.

Good to have another Guzzi now, and I am in the fortunate position to own quite a few motorcycles now - both my own several “keepers” , to those for trade, and some to restore.

I am now semi-retired and putting my motorcycle engineering expertise to use by rebuilding, restoring and refurbishing old Italian and British Classics, plus doing servicing and repairs for mostly Italian bikes (especially Classics but also modern bikes).
If you ever hear of 4D Moto - on the edge of the Forest of Bowland - or Google it - then that is me.

May see you out and about - ride safe.

Well, Hell, and welcome! After all that, glad you are still upright and functional, especially after trading a Guzzi for a Fiesta!!
I have no idea where the Forest of Bowland is but you sound like a useful guy to know. Look forward to your pearls of wisdom. :grinning_face_with_smiling_eyes:

Yup! Looked it up and a lovely part of the country to be sure. Wild and open. Spent a lovely few days a few years back in and around the Yorkshire Dales with the bike. Got close I guess around Settle. Ideal biking country.

Yes, it’s a good place to own a bike - just pretty shitty weather from October to late March…

Jeez, I needed a lay down just reading about all your travels..
Welcome back :+1:
(Wish I still had my FZ750, did almost 50K on it before blummin kids forced it’s sale).

Actually, my last long distance motorcycle travelling was some time ago. It was around 2010 when I did just 2,500 miles on a 1991 BMW K100 RS and in two sections - visiting friends in various parts of Europe.

Good fun and even delivered the bike to it’s new owner (I gave it to a cousin of mine) on my way home!

Welcome. I second A&D Motorcycles being a great place to buy a bike. Hopefully aftersales will be to the same standard.
