Loud pipes and revving.

Yeah, another time another place for that discussion eh.

Back to the loud pipes bit…
I took mine to a meet hosted by the local Hells Angels, it was one of the quietest there.. reckon I’d quite like some acoustic enhancements.. purely on a safety basis..
Any recommendations for a 2010 V7.? :ear:t2:

That is not what I said, I pointed out that to change the rules you have to go through due process. There are 2000 other members in the club who may not agree with you. That is why there are rules.

I never said you can’t discuss the rules on here, only that you can’t change them here.

The Mistrals I put on my T3 weren’t loud, per se, but definitely had “presence” - highly recommended. I did take the ‘decibel beaters’ out once, just to see (hear) but it bothered me before anyone else complained, so back in they went.

Nah, I fear you misunderstood Chris, the response was sent before your message popped up on my screen and was directed towards the previous one by Cavey, I was responding to him intimating I didn’t wish to take the thread ‘off topic’ as I was enjoying the thoughts/experiences shared :smiling_face_with_sunglasses:

Gawd, this online stuff is so much more difficult that chatting with someone eh, and I bet we’d likely agree wholeheartedly for the most part where we actually face to face :+1:
Indeed, I enjoyed a lovely chat, at times non-pc and supplemented with the occasional bout of industrial language, with several club members at the Yorks group Seaway meet on Saturday, doubtless it’s a conversation that gets replicated at club meets up and down the land, after all, it seems we’re all here for the same thing.. we’re addicted to motorsickles

No problem King Orry (or is it your royal highness?) as your response was straight after mine I fell for the trapdoor!

Have fun

I believe that there was an actual king Orry who was a viking that ruled over the IOM in the 11th century and there are plans being debated to erect a statue of him at Tynwald hill. His grave is purported to be in Laxey. No idea how I know such stuff… I need to get out more…especially on the bike

there are signs here in tourist areas asking them not to be a …chucker… with a picture of someone tossing their litter out the car window, so it is sufficiently mild to used in public for most people it seems

on the other hand, not a word i would use in front of my granny

Yes indeed, King Godred Crovan, aka King Orry was a Viking who apparently arrived on the Isle of Man in 1079 (so probably just after Guzzi created their first transverse V engine design.!).
He helped set up the legal system on the island so they say, a legal system without speed limits on ‘unrestricted’ sections of the islands roads, and one which allows motorsickles not only to be ridden at their ‘full potential, but raced too… what a wonderful guy, a visionary clearly
I visited his grave on my last trip over there, and have often travelled over to the TT on the ferry named after him. :+1:

Thanks KingOrry for the further information. Very interesting indeed. I’ve visited the IOM many times as a kid for family holidays and of course the TTs as an adult. Great place to go. I first saw a moto guzzi Lemans there in Douglas in 1976 and became hooked on guzzis. If a viking could have ridden a motor sickle it would definitely have been a Guzzi

Back on topic…

I recall riding through Douglas on the IOM in the early 90’s following a bunch of Germans, they’d ride normally, hit the Kill Switch briefly and then as the bikes reignited there’d be one hell of a backfire.. they kept setting off all the car alarms nearby..!
Utterly childish, yet I found it really funny too.
But, back then during the TT it was most definitely ‘Anything goes’.
