Mandello starting in really hot weather issue?

I’m in France and it’s high 30s/low 40s the bike isn’t getting hot on the gauge but it needs a couple of cranks to start rather than straight off a single button jab. Has anybody else had this or is it normal in these temps? Cheers Neil.

I have no fancy theorems or technical diagnoses but I am unsurprised that our machines are having to adjust as best they can to abnormally high conditions at startup. Four wheeled vehicles engines are somewhat better shielded from blazing sunshine maybe? I’d say be thankful that an extra jab on the starter is all it takes to get you kicked into life then runs OK? Maybe just needs an extra injection of relatively cooler fuel from the tank protected lower in the frames of many bikes?

Maybe I’m a dummy?

I have to say that opening the tank gives a big whoosh of fumes with the increased pressure which may also be contributing?

Yep! Our machines are reacting just like us to pretty abnormal conditions in this kind of heat. Venting the tank seems to me to be a not to bad little wheeze to help any way it can? Nice one!

I seem to remember my 2021 V7 Special wasn’t too keen during the last heatwave back in 2022. Back to normal when temps got more sensible. Haven’t tried it this time.

Re tank pressure is it possible to do what’s called the ‘EVAP delete’ and so vent the tank to atmosphere?

I don’t know how easy it is to do the evap delete with all the ‘clever’ Euro5+ gubbins…
