Had my Norge 8V for nearly 2years now, I have never changed the headlight bulbs and they have been fine for the last 4000 miles +, been for a ride around Wales today, got home and cleaned the bike to find that where the offside dip headlight is, the clear Perspex has melted.
Has anyone else experienced this and does anyone have a headlight they want to sell please?
Thanks.
I remember years ago someone posting they had run the engine of theirs for some reason I can’t remember, and made the mistake of leaving a bike cover over the front of it, which caused the headlight to overheat and melt. I guess yours was a victim if the unusually hot weather?
There’s also an expensive prevention when you’ve got a new headlight unit - swap all the bulbs for the equivalent LED version. I say ‘expensive’ because currently Philips’ ‘Ultinon’ range are the only ones that are CE-approved for retrofitting to normal halogen bulbs. The ones you want are the ‘Ultinon Access’ range because they are a drop-fit for existing halides. Some of the Pro versions will be too big because of the cooling fan on the rear.
Are they worth the price? IMO - oh yes they are!

While I’m here
and it’s off-topic, but regardless don’t use Philips X-treme H4 in your V7 E5 if it has H4 headlight, they tend to blow (well mine did), I’m guessing because they overheat as there’s no holes in the shell to even pretend to allow air to circulate. Stick to OEM bulb.
