Mk 3 model identification pointers

Another question about v50 111
Did early ones come with chrome indicators, Guzziology reckons all threes came with black rectangular ones. The bike I’m half interested in has chrome ones + the front brake master cylinder is rectangular not round as I see on other threes ?

Ian Falloon’s book the Moto Guzzi story shoes black rectangular indicators, and he says “the front master cylinder was now handlebar mounted enabling the fuel tank cap to be hidden by a steel cover” but no mention of the shape.

Bike magazine write up 1983 This shows round front master cylinder.

Rider magazine As does this article.

Classic Bike This shows the V50 with round indicators, so they may have been changed on your one after it was dropped?

Best wishes Chris

Thankyou
Hopefully owner will get back to me with engine and frame numbers

Hi Chilly
All MkIII V50’s came with black rectangular Indicators, the same as used on the MkII LeMans and probably several other models!
The Front Master Cylinder should be mounted on the Handle bars, have a round clear plastic screw in Reservoir with a black screw on cap and should be a PS12.
Modification to the later ‘rectangular’ M/Cylinder is quite common as they are cheaper and more easily available. It will probably be either a PS11 or PS13. Look underneath and you will see the size stamped into the casting in very small numbers.
