Seen on another forum. I guess we’ll need to see how exactly it gets implemented. My Spada will come into this next year.
“If you have an older Guzzi this could be good news, vehicles over 40 years old will be exempt from the annual MOT, though any owner can ask for a voluntary MOT if he/she feels the need.”
Mixed feelings about this one.
Having seen the state that peoples cars and bikes arrive for pre-MoT servicing and the test itself I’d worry about letting them miss being fettled at least once a year.
Then again is a 40+ vehicle not going to be owned by an enthusiast
Saves me money 'though so won’t be complaining.
Have fun
Steve
I really hope that this is true in most cases.
The sights I’ve seen presented for service and repair make me wonder what goes on in peoples minds.
Not MoT related but helped out today on a Renault which had been overfilled with oil. Sump capacity 3.5 litres. Overfilled by 5.5 litres. Bit of a mess
Neglect of brakes is a regular (‘they were never that good in the 60’s’, ‘Does it matter? I don’t go that fast’)
Fingers crossed
Steve
Already MOT exempt pre1960 so perhaps makes some sense to align with Historic tax class.
I think this is part of a review of roadworthiness legislation in general. We have been supplying information at work related to tractors. What has now been published does not seem to take anything we have said into account and looks like a complete waste of time. I suppose they have to consider all the input from people who have taken part in the consultation.
