Can anyone recommend a good mechanic near Congleton Cheshire?
I have a California 1400 Touring with oil warning light that stays on until 2k revs
I’m not familiar with the big Cali but I’m all too familiar with faulty oil pressure switches in both small block and big block Guzzis. If you can see the pressure switch and can get at it, check the connector for corrosion as a first step and if that’s okay, changing it yourself is going to be a really cheap way of starting the serious troubleshooting.
Is Nigel at NBS to far for you in Staffordshire? I think he offers a collection service if needed.
The other thing it could be the intermediate sump gasket?
First place I’d look is the oil pressure switch. They are pretty cheap to replace, so I’d order one and put it in to compare.
Signs of a bad switch: the contact blade coming out of the switch housing is loose: there is a greenish corrosion on the blade (clean it): there is a slight oil leak around the blade (not the sealing surface to the block). You should also check the switch for tightness in the block and that a copper washer is fitted.
