Having just overcome a water in the fuel issue I am now being presented with the red warning light on the dash and the word ‘SERVICE’ across the bottom of the tip computer screen. This is a accompanied by occasional lack of response when the engine is cold, one cylinder seemingly cutting out then joining back in. Once the engine is fully hot the problem pretty much disappears. I have plugged in a piece of diagnostic software which showed a fault as P0110 Air Temperature Sensor too high. I was also able to re-set the fault code putting the red light warning out on the dash. Is the sensor a good bet for causing my poor cold running? Does this fault refer to the small sensor that screws into the side of the air filer box?
Pretty confident that this is the sensor you mention, before replacing it you can give it a clean and also check the resistance value with a meter, in the manual there is a range of temps and the value you should get (e.g. 20 deg C 3,750 Ohm)
If you need a replacement try searching for either Marelli 219244250500 or Fiat 9942901 or a motor factors.
Brian, many thanks for your reply. I was looking at the cost of the replacement with a genuine item from Fowlers in Bristol costing £85.00 and the Marelli item costing around £16.00 from a supplier on Ebay. Now at least I know that the Marelli item should be a direct and very good value replacement. Genuine Guzzi parts are often an horrendous price but I guess that is because it is a defunct model. I will update this once I have checked the sensor out and/or replaced it. Can I rest assured that the sensor that provides the temperature read out on the clocks has no impact on the fuelling of the bike?
The dash temp sensor is located under the dash, so no affect.
