Moto Guzzi T3 California 1981 Now sold

For Sale my Moto Guzzi T3 California 1981 owned by me for for 20 years.
The bike has been fully stripped and restored by myself, there are photos available at all stages of the strip down and rebuild, there is also a video of the bike starting and running with all lights indicators horns working.

                      The bike is a genuine T3 California not a dressed up G5  T3  Spada  LeMans or V1000. 

                                I have left everything servicible and mechanically functional original .

I do have front and rear crash bars, 2 sets of pannier frames, 1 x set of original panniers that need re-paninting which im keeping for another rebuild. There are available original items out there i can buy to replace these so if i get the full asking price im happy to negotiate these within the sale.

The log book is in my name and there are many previous mot certificates. I can deliver within a 30 mile radius free of charge. There are no test rides but the video is available of the bike starting and running. The bike is sold as seen with no warranties or guaranties given and there are no refunds accepted. The bike has been valued by an independent factory trained mechanic.

Cosmetics/ cycle parts

Powder coated parts - frame, swingarm, stands and all mounting brackets, wheels.
Nuts bolts inc engine/gearbox mounts and control linkages  - either replaced with stainless or stripped refurbed and painted with Technogrip.
Centre stand and mount plates welded and re-shaped profiles with new bushes, new springs to centre and side stand.
Footboard rubbers replaced new.
Rubber mounting discs, spacers, correct length fixings have been fastidiously checked researched and replaced.
Fuel tank and side panels resprayed professionally, new graphics, badges repainted in enamel.
Headlight shell, triple clamp, airbox metalwork, rear brake caliper hanger all stripped cleaned and painted with Technogrip.
Mirrors secondhand from TLM off a modern Breva but work very well easily adjusted.

Control Cables

Clutch cable, speedo cable, rev counter cable, throttle cables replaced new.
Throttle cables have the correct free inner length are custom made so there is initial adjustment without removing the carb top adjuster locknuts.


Domino left and right hand switch gear new replaced.
Domino switchgear molex to molex conversions from Greg Bender new replaced.
Headlight loom from Greg Bender new replaced.
Relay conversions for lights low/high and flashing with halogen bulb, horn and coils from Greg Bender new replaced .
Main harness, charging harness and all sub harnesses from Greg Bender new replaced.
Ignition switch new.
Spark plugs and HT leads new replaced.
Regulator new replaced.
Starter motor and solonoid refurbed painted with Technogrip.
Motobatt battery MBTX30U.
Indicators replaced new.
Rear light replaced new.


Checked for compression.
Barrels pistons replaced from a low milage SP1000 ( so not old chrome items )
Engine block housing replaced.
Timing chain new replaced.
Oil pump new replaced.
Big end shells, conrod bolts and nuts new replaced.
Heads re-torqued and valves adjusted.
Exhaust threads Helicoiled with new studs.
All seals and gaskets replaced new.
All cases cleaned by hand.
Sump cleaned out new oil filter  filter gauze with screw and lock plate, sump plug washer replaced new.
Oil level dipstick new replaced.
Oil Silkolene V Twin 20w50 Mineral.


Stripped cleaned, all jets needles gaskets and filters new replaced.
Air filter replaced.
Flip top chokes new replaced.
Fuel tap gaskets new replaced.
Fuel pipe crossover bates pipes from HMB new replaced.


Replaced with a secondhand unit with only a few hundred miles on, inc flywheel, ring gear, clutch plates, springs, clutch hub centre, new lock washer and nut, ring gear, flywheel bolts and schnorr washers new replaced.


Input and out put seals, push rod seals, input shaft o rings, clutch bearing housing o rings new replaced.
Seal washers for oil filler, drain and level plugs new replaced.
Oil Motul 80w90 with MoS2 additive

Rear Drive

Stripped checked and cleaned.
Output seal new replaced.
Cover paper gaskets new replaced.
Cover Bolts and schnorr washers new replaced.
Wheel drive hub cleaned with  o rings, cush rubbers new replaced and greased up.
Seal washers for oil filler, drain,and level plugs new replaced.
Oil Motul 80w90 with MoS2 additive


Bearing, circlip, rubber gaiter and stainless clips new replaced.

Swinging arm

Bearings and seals new replaced.

Front Forks

Stripped checked and cleaned.
Dampers, fork seals, new replaced, filled with ATF fluid.
Seal washers for drain plugs and bottom retaining screws new replaced.
Fork sliders cleaned polished and repainted with Technogrip.

Triple clamp

Stripped cleaned with all threads reconditioned.
Painted with Technogrip.
Steering bearings new replaced.


Powder coated.
Bearings and circlips new replaced.
Innertubes and wheel tapes new replaced.
 Avon Road Rider tyres less than 200mile use.
Wheels balanced.


Front and Rear master cylinder rebuild kits new replaced.
Rear brake lines braided new replaced.
Original hard line to caliper new replaced.
Under tank intergral line braided new replaced.
Front lines braided new replaced.
Original hard lines to calipers painted with Technogrip.
Calipers cleaned and painted with Technogrip.
