Hi all, not sure if this has been posted on this forum previously, if so I apologise although I could not find it.
There is a Government Consultation which closes on 9th June 2024 on whether Local Authorities must default to allow the use of Bus Lanes by motorcycles. You can have your say and be in support of this change to the Law here:
Completed the survey. It’s such a no brainer. Better road space utilisation, more traffic throughput. Less road space conflict, safer city centre riding, and virtually no impact on otherwise under utilised bus lanes.
MAG will continue to fight this issue. Governments seem to want to take away a lot of our freedoms , including motorcycling . Join MAG now and help the campaign. Cheers.
The inconsistency is just perverse.
In my city I know two bus lanes that motorcycles are allowed to use yet we can’t use any of the others!
I imagine they forgot to (or more likely can’t be bothered to) change the signs over and complete any orders they would need to to make changes legal? One I use because the signage says I can has an ANPR camera and thankfully I haven’t had a fine.
It feels safer being out of the flow of phone users and it aids efficiency as I can even use a different road that is more direct. Such a shame motorcycle access to bus lanes is not a default.
