I am the proud owner of a 1972 moto guzzi 850gt, it came over from Italy in 2017, I was wondering how I go about tracing my bikes history or is there someone that could do it for me, someone with experience, thank you.
Do you mean since it has been in this country?
Try Googling Guzzi folowed by the reg number. It might just bring up a previous auction sale or similar.
You can see the MOT history on the DVLA website here
https://www.check-mot.service.gov.uk/
No, while it was in Italy. I’ve got a dating certificate from Moto guzzi themselves stating it was supplied to there dealer in Palermo, Sicily in 1972, I’d love to know its history since then.
That one won’t be easy. Adam Bolton @adamigo has good Italian connections and may know if there is any way of discovering any past history of the bike, maybe the Italian equivalent of the DVLA?
I have to refuse I got any Italian connections, but nice somebody thinks so:)
Do you have any Italian papers or documentation with the bike? If you do there may be a way. If not, virtually impossible.
I have an FIM certificate which came with the bike which I believe was issued in Italy, I believe the original Italian registration number is on it, the bike came with a gold FIM plaque too.
