Hi Folks, Just been messing around on the DVLA website, and checked to see if my old V50 MK2 was still around. I bought it new in 1980 from Geoff Darren Motorcycles in Sandwich, Kent and my wife and I rode it to Monty Carlo and back on our honey moon in 1981. Still got the same wife thankfully, but many different motorcycles later, hey. Anyway guess what, CFN 857W is still around. Is now red, was originally blue and is on SORN. If the owner sees this or someone knows the owner, please contact me via the forum with their permission of course, or I’m happy to pass on my details. I have some original photos I can scan and forward, might even be interested in buying it back depending, you never know. All the best, Dickie
Hi there and good luck. Hope you are reunited.
Would you like me to copy this to the clubs facebook page? You never know who might see it on there.
All the best
Steve
That would be lovely Steve, thanks, even if i could add to the bikes history for the owner it would be nice.
Kindest regards, Dickie
All done DB.
Fingers crossed for an update.
Have fun
Steve
We would love to see your photos regardless - either here or on the FB page.
Both my pal and I still have the V50s we bought new in 1980 - mine on a V and his on a W. Mine in black (as per my FB comment) and looking rough from winter usage, my pals all still in the original blue (no comments please from Mr MF) but looking a bit the worse from some damp storage during long years of being laid up; but running like a good’un again now.
If you google search the reg it comes up with a picture of it, looking very shiney and red. It’s amazing what you can find on there!! The Flickr account might just lead you to its new owner. From the name on the account, I would guess it is Homer’n’marj, the prolific seller of small block parts on eBay
Hi Don, Sorry for delayed response, it’s good of you to have taken the trouble, I’ll check it out thanks. Does look shiny though.
All the best, Dickie
No probs. The picture was taken a while ago, but is is a good start for you.
