Nevada tyres

Looking to replace tyres on 1996 750 Nevada. The spec. says 130/90 16 for the rear and assumes a 16 x 3.0 rim. Mine is only 2.5. The existing tyre is 130, but very difficult to get past the brake caliper support post.

I would also appreciate advice re. the make/model of tyre. The Nevada needs tubed tyres, and while some, like continental b46 can be used with correct inners, there seems to be little information about which others can and can’t be fitted.

I replaced my nevada tyres with Kenda K657 ,130 90 -16 and 100 90-18 . fitted with new tubes. The rear wheel slips out once you deflate the tyre and remove the rear caliper bolt and bracket. I have not managed to put many miles on new tyres to form an opinion.

Bridgestone BT45 and the later BT46 seem to have both fans and foes. Personally, I gel with them. I have used them on my Breva 750, CB500 and now on my 2007 Nevada. That said, even touring I a not know for hanging around and find them better the hard they are pushed. This is due to the dual compound, with a harder centre band. The harder they are cornered the more softer compound is engaged. Metzeler Lasertec might be more suited to a sedate ride.
