New Member Fife

Hi I’m Iain from Fife, and not great with computers, so apologies for any mistakes in advance. I have 4 bikes currently, a Mk 3 V50 which I have recently acquired, a 750 Breva I’ve had for 2-3 years, a Honda CB175 currently in bits and Honda SL175.
I’ve had bikes all my life, and done a fair bit of touring in the past, and looking to find advice in the club, and possibly, hopefully contribute something to the club members

Welcome here, Iain.

Hopefully you get added to the Scottish branch mailing list soon, check the magazine for meetings
And welcome
Gino

CB175 was my first bike in 1976. Had a blue one, M reg. Loved it. Still riding 49 years later.

Hi Steve, mines a red CB K6, still a little work to do to get it back on the road. Like you been at the riding bit a while, passed my test, (it was actually called a test, but truthfully couldn’t be described as one) in 1965, had bikes ever since. Recently got a V50, and looking to use that when weather picks up, just had it historic registered. Been trying to find a recommended engine oil, Agip Sint 2000 is what the book says, but not now available, and equivalents appear confusing, so looking for anybody currently running a V50 to recommend an oil.

Welcome, Iain. Asking for oil recommendations can be a little like opening Pandora’s Box! Mineral? Modern synthetic? Hold tight!

On average, the best advice, arguably, is to get the most suitable equivalent, available to you, at the right price… and change it at generous intervals. As far as I am aware, the club still has an arrangement with Opie Oils who offer both advice and a discount.

thanks Barry

I am going to try 10w60 oil in my Le Mans 1. I used it in my more modern Guzzis. Anyone else use it in a classic Guzzi?

I use it all the time 10/60 fully synthetic no problems :+1:

Hi Guys, thanks for your input, I’m going to go down the road of 10W - 60, that’s what I currently use in the 750 Breva. I’ll be taking the V50 sump off and cleaning it out, as I’ve no idea what’s previously been in it, and may have a bit of sludge the new oil might lift and move to unwanted areas. Also when ordering oil from Opie Oils, they told me they no longer do Club Discounts, but they did have a 15% Flash sale on.
