New Member from Somerset

Hi everyone,

New to the forum but have been around Guzzis all my life. My dad was I life-long guzzi rider and raced them for a few years when I was young. I naturally started my motorcycle riding career on a guzzi, though I have been side tracked with big twin harleys the last few years while living in north america.

Unfortunately my dad died unexpectedly in october 2025, prompting me to return to the UK from Canada. My brother and I have inherited a collection of bikes and parts that will take quite a bit of working through, but we are both enthusiasts of the marque and intend to carry on his legacy as best we can.

We’d both like to be a bit more involved in the community, having mostly ridden together over the last few years, we will try to be present at some of the club events this year.

Here’s a couple of photos:

Dave here in Scotland. Welcome to the Forum and Club? Sounds like you might get some attention looking for parts at least! :grinning_face_with_smiling_eyes: Interested to see as you go on what finds/projects you might get into.

Nice pics btw. I did the expat thing in the Southern US for 25 years and coming home again an ā€˜interesting’ readjustment. Not least climate!!

Anyways, have fun here and welcome again. D

Hi Alex

That’s a bittersweet situation for you and your brother but it’s great you’re keeping good memories going.
Welcome to the club. Wishing you all the best.

I’m a newbie here myself, first Moto Guzzi in the fleet recently, but welcome in any event and sincere condolences for your loss.

Thanks Dave. Yep, will be working my way through and listing various bits as I go.

We’ve got a bit of triage to do in terms of projects! two T3s, a T4, several v50s and trellis frame guzzi race bikes, all in bits. Then several bevel ducatis also in bits and a couple of dirt bikes. Not even sure where to start…

I’m in for a slightly easier readjustement, I was living in MontrĆ©al, over the border in canada where its currently -15 and several feet deep in snow! British winter feels a bit half-hearted after that ha

Thank you Jim

Ya know what you could do? A big ole party! By the sounds of it I could not even begin to recognise what I was looking at when you get to the smaller ā€˜bits’. I betcha there are multiple guys on here would happily make a pilgrimage just to pillage! Could be sitting on a minor archaeological dig there. Sieve out the stuff you’d want to keep as projects and narrow it all down. Like a rolling yard sale.

Either that or ā€œhow do you eat an elephant?ā€ One bite at a time! :joy:

Sounds like a giant task whatever. No problem what to keep you busy the rest of the winter! Good luck and start digging! :mechanic:

Hi Alex,

I was so sorry to hear about the loss of your dad, I knew him and found out via Mr Ducati AKA Pete Monty a good friend of mine and your dads.

I invited your dad out trail riding a couple of years ago in Bristol and he pitched up on a Honda CRM. He hadn’t ridden trails for years but it didn’t show, I could tell he had a special talent on two wheels.

I look forward to meeting you, maybe at the Haynes Guzzi meeting this year?

Hi Alex. Welcome to the group and soory to hear of your loss.

I’m also in Somerset (Frome) and new to Moto Guzzi. I mostly ride a Yamaha Tracer 9GT and a 1982 Suzuki GS500 four but I’ve got a Moto-Guzzi V50ii project bike on the go at the moment and looking forward to riding it.

@mjf65 when is the Haynes Guzzi meet? That would be an excellent target for getting my V50 on the road.
