Hi, I’ve just joined the club having been the proud owner of a V7 Sport for just a month, my first Guzzi. To be honest, I’d been thinking about getting a V85TT, having road tested them on several occasions but decided that I’d keep my trusty Suzuki V-Strom and add something quite different to the garage as a second bike. I’ve also recently taken early retirement so hopefully I’ll have time to spend on the bikes… although retired friends tell me that won’t happen!
I’ve admired Moto Guzzis from afar for many years, having first sat on an 850 T3 when I was an apprentice sometime around 1983. Where did the time go?
Looking forward to meeting other Guzzi owners locally, I live in Romsey, and will hopefully make contact with the local area group in due course.
Welcome, I thought that you were introducing me. I’ve retired relatively young and have my first Moto Guzzi, a V7 Sport, partly for the same reason you’ve mentioned but also cocking a leg over my pretty tall adventure bike (that I’ve kept) is getting interesting as I get older.
Yes, I know what you mean. The V-Strom is not too bad, but there are some adventure bikes I really like the look of which are just way too tall for me. I got back into motorcycles a decade or so ago because of adventure bikes and thought I might go with the V85TT for quite a long time but decided I fancied having something different, like a retro, and the V7 just ticked all the boxes for me, the Sport even more so.
I’m not sure if there are many Guzzi owners near me? I don’t seem to have passed any while I’ve been out on the V7 this last few weeks, just the usual mix of BMW’s, Ducatis, Enfields and Japanese machines.
