New member, new guzzi

Hi all,

I have just purchased my first Moto guzzi, which is a 1974 tuttoterreno 125. Generally I’m very pleased. I have a little bit of wiring to tidy up but it runs and rides perfect. The main problem is the paint work. Can anyone advise on factory paint codes? Don’t seem to see many blue ones. I know this current blue is definately wrong however, under the side panels is a much lighter blue, not sure if its correct but looks fairly original.

Many thanks in advance

Paul

Welcome to the Guzzi mob! Will be some interest in your machine I am sure. Looking at that crazy muffler betting it makes some blood curdling crackles! All kinds of off road silliness to be had I’d imagine. Where you from?

Welcome! “What are the paint codes” has to be up there in the most asked questions Top 10 - a quick search on that phrase will conjure up a few hours reading, I’d think!

fwiw: the smartest answer to “what colour” (in my opinion) is “find a bit of metal with original paint on, and take it to any auto place which colour matches”

There are some partial paint code lists around on the wibbly wobbly web, but they are pimarily for 70’s Tonti models.

It certainly has a nice traditional 2 stroke sound. Only done a couple of miles on it so far. I was waiting for the log book. All road legal now though. I’m in north east Lincolnshire.

This is the underside of side panels

Ha! Kind of electric blue. Like Barry says, bet a good auto paint shop guy could match that pretty damn close.

Need to find you somewhere hillier than Lincolnshire to put it through it’s paces. Not much would stop it I bet. Pretty rare beastie too by what I’ve seen? Hope it was a bargain!

That blue colour on the tank looks very similar to Spectral Blue AMG/Mercedes. If you can’t find the original paint codes it may be worth checking out how close Spectral Blue really is. It does look a cool bike though!

That’s a nice looking bike, quite an unusual machine.
Not sure I can help with colour codes, but other information is available on a website The Guzzitek.
Here’s a parts book for the bike

And a workshop manual. I assume you know that this is basically a badge engineered Benelli 125 Enduro.

Brilliant info here! Thank you

yes I have already been looking through the benelli workshop manual. The guzzitek links will be very helpful.

Hi Souter, Welcome to the club. Im also in North East Lincs. Paul Morris, organises the ride-ins for our area which is called North Lincs group. We meet every 3rd Saturday at 1pm. The first ride in is on 21 March at the Wickenby Airfield. It will be great to see you and the bike there. :grinning_face_with_smiling_eyes:

As has been said, find a paint stockist who can use a spectrometer to find the colour composition from the side panel. What would be useful, would be to check the underside of the tank, as the liklihood is the original paint colour is still there on the underside or in the tunnel.

Thanks for letting me know about the meet up. I will have to check nearer the time if I can make it. Cheers
