Wooohooo! Big smile on the face day!

Happy New Bike Day :tada:

There’s nothing quite like that new bike smell.. one of life’s great joys as a motorsickle rider is sat gawping at your new acquisition, the metalwork ticking as it cools down, each gaze finding something else you’d not spotted, while the bike oozes that fantastic aroma of newness… :ok_hand:

Welcome and enjoy :+1:
(Feeling jealous now, my last ‘new bike’ experience was my Yam FZ750.. in 1986.!)

Great news Snapper and welcome to the forum! :+1:

Not to put a downer on your day, wouldn’t dream of it, but as you sit watching it tick and cool down, as @KingOrry describes, something you can do is start to assemble your own toolkit for your new ride. Which spanner’s fit which bits? What size Allen heads? Some Torx heads maybe? What would you go for? I got stubby spanners for my T3 Cali, and along with a stubby 3/8 ratchet, all the ‘roadside’ tools fitted into a small EDC pouch I got from Decathlon.

Other owners of the same model might give you some tips about fasteners that you perhaps might want to spin out/off and apply grease to, or maybe add loctite to? It’s a great way, in my opinion, to get to know your new bike.

Edit/PS: somewhat belatedly, I added to my ‘toolkit’ a couple of sticking plasters, an alcohol wipe or two, a tiny bottle of hand cleaning gel, an antiseptic/burn cream and a couple of £20 notes! Not a ‘first aid kit’ by any means, but they got used in anger.

Well that’s killed the joy Barry..
But, you are spot on re the application of a little effort now will pay you back in spades later.
I’m that sad, whenever I get a ‘new to me’ bike, I remove anything I can lay my hands on easily, (especially stuff like mudguard bolts which are so exposed), give them a good coating of copper slip or similar, and re-fit.

Not sure how active the Norfolk branch are, but a trip to neighbouring group meets is always a good excuse for a ride.
I’m in N.Lincs, so not a million miles from you Snapper.. hopefully bump into you somewhere sometime over the summer :sun_with_face:
