New member Northumberland

Just got my new v7 special a few weeks ago and have been enjoying the b roads of rural Northumbria, lovely bike very comfy , full of character. On a side note any of you dudes had any issues with the chrome?? I had several accessories fitted at the dealer,mo tech at byker, one was a rather expensive guzzi rear chrome rack that decided to start shedding its chrome plateing after 3 weeks and under 100 miles,so put a warranty claim in through the canny lads at mo tech for a replacement to which guzzi have responded and refused to replace it!! Eh!! Anyway I’m getting a refund from the dealer. Still not good ! anyways if your considering chrome might be an idea to go aftermarket.
Safe riding all.

Hi I live just outside Morpeth and have just purchased a V85TT, perhaps see you around the area

Hello Elvis.

I’m guessing you’re the one I met outside Belsay Post Office a few weeks ago? You were with your mate on a V Strom.

Hope you’re still enjoying the bike - they’re cracking little bikes for playing out on :grinning:

Might see you out and about sometime :+1:

Welcome Elvis

Hi Elvis,
Warranty // Now I’m not saying get into a row with any dealer and it seems the dealer in question has sorted it,
However, warranty is trumped every time and for up to six years by the Consumer Rights Act 2015.
A product must be fit for purpose
As described
Be of satisfactory quality
Last a reasonable amount of time
Everyone should read it.
In the case of products, it bugs me that some traders hide behind warranty ( not suggesting anyone did here ) your contract is with the merchant, not the manufacturer.
And you do not need the box or original packaging to return an item for a refund, T&C’s are trumped by the law
But my advice is everyone should read and understand the CRA 2015

Elvis, @DB100 makes a very valid point here about the CRA. It is often quite challenging to bring a CRA case against motor vehicles due to their value and reduction in the same over time and mileage. However, in your case as the item in question is an “accessory” and not an intrinsic part of the core motorcycle a satisfactory remedy under the CRA is highly likely. I did manage to get Jeep to give me my money back on a vehicle I purchased new but which developed a number of faults, which they could not remedy, over the first year of ownership. Admittedly I had to agree to buy another new Jeep, which I did, but I still got all my money back on a 1 year old car due to using the rights afforded under the CRA - good reminder @DB100

Welcome Elvis
