Hi everyone. I’m Mike, I live in Leicestershire, and I will be picking up a new Mondello V100S in a couple of weeks. I’ve been a Yamaha rider since the 1990s, and I had other Japanese brands before that, so the switch to an Italian V-twin is quite a step change.
My current bike is a Tracer 9GT+, the high-tech, Y-AMT equipped version which came out last year. It has loads of buttons to push, but the bike never really pushed any of mine. I took a test ride on a Mondello this past week and realised within a few miles what I’ve been missing for the past year or so. The V100S has all the modern tech benefits - particularly the Ohlins suspension - but doesn’t let any of that get in the way of the connection with the rider. I loved it and placed the order the day after.
I’ll be reading my way into the V100 posts here and will probably have questions, but for now, I’m happy to be another convert to Moto Guzzi.
Welcome. I’m on my first Guzzi too, a V7 Sport. I’ve owned or had legitimate access to a large number of motorcycles over the years but, remarkably, there is definitely something about the MG that connects to your soul. I hope you enjoy your new bike.
Welcome to the Club and hope you are pleased with your new Mandello. It’s quite a switch from a lifetime of Japanese machines like me. All I can say is I wish I had done it much sooner.
Maybe it’s an age thing? Decades of the newest and fastest gave me mucho fun but the Guzzi just pleases in every way. You will change your riding style but then wonder why you were chasing all the stuff you never really needed for so long. It’ll put a smile on your face!
Welcome to the club. I also went from a Tracer 9GT to a Guzzi but I went for a V85TT. I did test ride a V100 though and I’m sure you’ll enjoy that character that was missing from the extremely good but rather soulless Tracer.
Hi there. That’s who I got my Tracer from in May last year. Like SteveCorner said, a very good bike but lacking in soul. I tried to like it more, but I never connected with it fully. Roll on next month and delivery of the new bike.
Welcome to “the club”. I rode all the Japanese bikes throughout the 70s 80s and teenies, I have a v85tt and wouldn’t want anything else, other than a Stelvio perhaps. You just have to accept that it is Italian and not a Japanese bikes.
