Hello Everybody.
I am looking to buy a new V7 Sport (E5+) quite soon.
I owned a V50 some years ago and always loved the engineering concept and easy handling. I don’t want chains or belt drives. I know that there is an efficiency loss and weight penalty with shaft drive but I that does not matter to me. I have wasted enough time in the past maintaining chains and cleaning off oil-spattered rear wheels.
I have been riding since 1964 and owned AJS 250, Velocette Venom 500, Norton Commando 850, Moto Guzzi V50, Yamaha MT-07, Kawasaki Z900, Honda VFR 800 Crossrunner, KTM 790 Duke, Honda NC750X-DCT.
I have already found the Forum interesting and useful and will contribute once I get the new V7

Good morning and welcome! Wisdom and enlightenment in abundance here so you should fit right in! Good luck with the acquisition and don’t wait too long. The season is upon us.

Welcome, looking at your biking history, I reckon you’ll enjoy a V7.
They’re a great tool to bob about on, and a very useable and manageable bike to own.

AJS 250 !! I have fond memories and enjoyed riding (at 17 it felt so fast !) it but even then i knew it wasn’t one of the best. Particularly in brakes and oil capacity lol. Love that you jumped straight for a Venom after. Welcome aboard

The AJay had a fragile gearbox too, with a delicate hairspring in the selector mechanism prone to breaking.
The Venom was very exacting to kick start. You had to retard the manual ignition, index the engine over compression (eased via the valve lifter) and then swing it with all your weight and might. If you got it wrong it kicked back so hard it nearly broke your leg!
Character forming experiences that make us realise how good modern bikes are!

Welcome. I’m 1000 miles into ownership of my first Moto Guzzi, a V7 Sport E5+in Verde Legnano. I always have to have a glance back when walking away and have developed a soft spot for it already!

Which dealer did you buy from? Are you happy with them?
A&D Motorcycles in Denbigh, North Wales. I found them super easy to deal with. I don’t think they’re part of a massive “stack ‘em high, sell ‘em cheap” franchise BUT they did go the extra mile in an effort to make my deal happen. Take care to read the small print in the Ts&Cs of the bigger outfits to ensure the price you see advertised is the actual price you’ll pay. A&D can ship throughout the UK too I believe.
