So, took the (much) better half for a rideout on the V7iii in the sunshine. Two-up the bike was tramlining much more than usual on our lovely roads and skipping on overbanding. Now, I’ve replaced the stock shocks with guzzibits hagon models and the handling has improved dramatically (but oh, my poor, sore back) and so I was then much happier with the stock Pirellis, but after today I’m wondering whether I can justify new tyres; the pirellis are legal but 4000 miles in. Some say avon roadmasters, some say B32s, what say you?
They will probably be good for another 4K.
I’ve just changed the tyres on my V100. It came with Pirelli RA2s…they lasted for 9.5K miles and still had something left. A bit squirrely on tramlines but still totally dependable when leant over.
I replaced them with Bridgestone S23s…very, very, pleased but I know they wont last as long.
I was looking for a rear tyre a few years ago and saw one on the internet for £39.50, I laughed but bought it, why not. It was a Maxxis and I’ve never bought anything else since. I went to Iceland in May on my V7 and put some Maxxis 50/50 tyres on just for the gravel roads, both tyres cost me £109 delievered. I’ll never go back to big names, big prices again.
Hello, I also fitted Hagan rear shocks and the difference was night and day. This weekend had fitted Hagan progressive springs because The forks bottom out as well. Previously fitted on recommendation BT 46, which are now getting towards the end of their life and find that they do tram and slip over road markings, however wet weather performance is good. I’m thinking for next season, fitting Michelin Road six which generally receive excellent reviews, assuming the front tire will fit. I will need to have a conversation with two tires. Best regards, Chris
Hello, on my V7iii Stone I replaced the stock Pirellis with Metzelers - and was delighted: new bike sensation. No idea whether they are still available - I don’t think they fit my newer v7 850, though the Bridgestone fitment is working well.
