Norge GT 8V Fairing burning

Afternoon all,

I have nearly finished rebuilding my Norge, I have had the fairing repaired and resprayed, re aligned the fairing brackets that were bent, had the headers ceracoated, but still after about 10 minutes of running the fairing down by the headers, starts to burn. Is this normal or am I missing something here?

Thanks for any advice.

Also a little bit of information for you, the bearings in the dog leg (rear suspension) are nearly all Aprilia bearings, these are cheaper than from Guzzi for some reason, I got mine from AP workshops.

I had think and there may be options.

Assuming you do have your fairing in its correct position and there is sufficient clearance you can either try using self adhesive aluminium foil coated foam (like the coating under the tank) or you can try exhaust wrap around the area that is getting too hot.

Unless someone can identify why this is happening.

Hi Brian,

I have measured the position of another Norge I have seen and my fairing is actually 2mm further away from the headers that the one I measured. Issue is the fairing was extremely close before and had burnt badly, (BTW this is the outside of the fairing not the inside, the inside I have already lined with heat reflective sheets), I have done just about all I can do to negate further burning but still it happens. The one I compared to mine was black so I couldn’t see if that is burning or not, mine is white and shows very quickly.

Sorry to hear that’s not working, a third option I thought of would be to try and make/fit is a heat shield plate that fixes on to the header, like they use on bikes to protect legs with high level pipes

The ones on my Norge are quite close, but have no problems like yours, mine is silver so would be very visible. Couple of things I would look at are they original downpipes, or is the bike running lean. I can take a temperature reading of mine if it helps.

Perhaps a measurement of how far from the headers the fairing is and the temp would be really helpful, thank you.

temperatures we’re taken after sitting idling in the garage for 10 minutes

Thanks mate.

Do you have a 4v version or 8v? Your fairing looks different to my 2014 8v.

Mines a 2006 4 valve

This is left and right side, both just newly painted and are now a lot further away from the exhaust than it used to be but still burning??
