Has anyone got any tips for removing the countersunk allen head bolt from the rocker / swing arm ? mines siezed in. Ive tried heat and fluid with no luck . the whole rocker was siezed solid but is now moving freely after much time cleaning up the othe r piviots but i just cant get the last one out. Is it threaded into the other side of the swing arm or just relies on the nut to keep it in place? ie will it drive out once the nut is off? Thanks.

This is from the standard online parts book (e.g. fowlers Moto Guzzi NORGE NORGE 1200 IE 1200 (CHASSIS NUMBER PREFIX: ZGULPH,ZGULPL,ZGULPU0) 2006-2016 Connecting rod - rear shock abs. supplied next day (UK only) by Fowlers Parts ) I think that you mean screw 9 - it is not countersunk and can be a b*stard to get out as it gets the brunt of all the road water and salt. Gutsibits now sell new linkages - they are expensive but when i replaced mine they cost less than all the new bearings, seals and pivot pins

Thanks, yes you are right ,the problem bolt is number 9 on the diagram and is not coming out for love nor money. It s very much buried in the swing arm flange, thats what i meant by countersunk, probably the wrong terminology. Still not sure if its screwed into the other side of the swing arm flange. If its not it should drive out once the nut is off. Winter job i think. thanks again.

I cannot 100% remember but don’t think it went into a thread in the swing arm and these two excerpts from the GRiSO manual look like it doesn’t.

does it turn in the swing arm? If not i would start with heat (just to 100-150 deg) and PlusGas & trying to rotate it with a manual impact driver.

If it has rusted to the steel bush in the centre of the bearing - it will be hard - good luck!

Thanks for this info Johnny, its not moving in the swing arm. Definitely a winter job. No hugger was fitted to the bike which has been standing for a few years. i did this job on a Breva a good while back and couldnt remember whether the bolt was threaded into the swing arm, I do remember having to slowly grind through the alloy rocker then the steel center bush to get a very rusty bolt out, great fun . thanks

I had this problem on my Stelvio. As mentioned lots of plus gas some heat and keep doing this for a week or two. Then try an air driven wrench, lots of torque so it normally shifts most stuck bolts.
