OEM brass silent blocks GU30503600 Sport 1100i 96

Hi all,

I have sourced one OEM brass one, so only need 3 now!

The slight / light touch freshen up has taken me down Alice’s rabbit burrow. After finally grinding off the 2 seized ones, I bought 4 from Gutsi bits. They are copies and although the length overall is correct, the internal thread (that goes on the M5 thread on the clocks) is approx 2-3 mm too short. Leaves a massive gap to be filled and just isn’t right (I can be OCD like this hahaha). I don’t like to bodge things. I have phoned Ed and let him know they don’t fit correctly.

So, does anyone have any of the old brass ones lying around that I could exchange for the Queen’s head at all? I haven’t seen any King’s money yet :innocent:
cheers,
Hoppy
Edited the mm’s

Thanks for moving and my sincere apologies, I looked for parts but looked so hard I couldn’t see this!

Can the short thread be tapped out to take up the gap?

That’s my plan in the meantime yes, would be easier with a pillar drill.

That’s a good point. May be worth a shout for local Guzzista with a drill👍

Hopefully my son will drill out and tap it tomorrow for me

If you are still wanting originals, they are available from Stein Dinse, although the postage may be more than the parts & they may get them from the same place as Gutsibts!

Hi Don-Spada,

They are a very slow company! I have also found that they or an almost exact replica of those silent blocks are available from… Amazon! And they still need drilling and tapping as the inside thread is too short.

Hi,

Update: Luke drilled and tapped the silent blocks. All the OEM threaded rods have been pulled out and replaced with rivnuts and correct length threaded rod. All is now well in the clocks department.

However the speedo sits at a different depth to the rev counter, so that silent block needed an M6 nut as a spacer, now they sit level.

The next issue is that I found the headlamp is a pattern part and the wrong nut, bolt, washer combination has been used so the assembly is fouling the speedo drive.
I have a plan so it should be all resolved by next weekend (not this one, unless Amazon deliver all the bits I’ve ordered).

Clocks all re-done now, I still need 3 more brass silent blocks but I’ve used rubber ones now.

Thanks all
