Oil Thread - sorry

Awll-righty then.

Ta for all your replies, doesn’t seem to be any horror stories apart from the linseed oil! Main recommendations seem to be for the classic oils, so will probably go for the halfords classic. Thanks again…

I’m using Halfords classic 20/50 and as said before on here looks like the old duckhams did and has stopped a small oil leak that I’d had for years on the lemon.
I think all current oil that you buy now will be higher spec than what they left the factory with in 1970/80s…

I used to sell Comma oils in a car accessory shop.Just as good, if not better, than big name brands but you are not paying for the name.

I have heard on good authority that the halfrauds 20/50 that comes in the metal tin is made by comma but comes with the retailers extra premium on top. Seek out a comma supplier and they’ll get it for you, cheaper.
I stick with millers or Morris for my classics. High zinc levels, more than comma.
db.

And here’s the best thing you can do with an old oilcan…

Just did a search and found this thread. I am reading my newly purchased Guzziology. February 2007. When I did my first oil change ,last year, I used 10/40semi synthetic. Guzziology says either 10/60 or 20/50 for my Cali’3.Oops!

I recently bought a 199 California Injection (Limited Edition) which was overdue an oil-change I think as what I drained out looked very thick and black.Have run it for a few miles on 10/40 Semi Synth from Halfords - now need to drop the sump and change the filter butWHAT OIL WILL BE BEST?manual says 20/50

Yep…

I have started using Kendall GT1 which has added zinc, it is a 20W 50. I used Comma before.
The Kendall oil is supposed to be extremely good, but I have not built up any experience yet.
All the best,
.
