Greetings all, new Guzzisti here and I have recently purchased a brand new V7 Special. I am hearing horror stories of Piaggio not honouring warranty claims and new bikes off the road for months. Is there any truth in this and is it this bad. Are there any independent garages that can sort issues out if the worst happens? Any advice will be gratefully received😁
Hi, welcome and congratulations on your new bike. I have a V7 Stone 850 and even though it had 4k on it when I bought it, the issues on here made me feel like I’d made a mistake. Please be reassured that there are thousands of MG’s out there all running without a problem. It’s only when there’s a problem that people tend to raise it as a chat etc. the percentage must be extremely low but we only ever complain, not write nice things as a rule in the UK . I love mine and wouldn’t change it now. Yours will no doubt give you the same pleasure and smile that made you want to buy it in the first place.
I’ve had my V7 Special for two years. The clutch lever started to show signs of corrosion. The dealer replaced it under warranty without any issues.
Which dealer did you go to. Appears Herts have only two closeby and both have been terrible in even giving me a service date. I am dreading what would happen if something went wrong!
In Moto, Croydon.
As I have been told by a former MG dealer, dealers can only claim warranty repair costs on bikes THEY HAVE SOLD. So if you take your bike anywhere other than where you bought it you may receive a less than enthusiastic welcome. That seems a strange way to do business, so if there are any other informed views please post them here.
I think this is to do with how Piaggio do business rather than the manufacturer. I would love for MG to directly sell in the UK rather than these importers who give the brand a bad name. This goes for Aprilia too I guess.
so for those of us who bought from a dealer who is no longer selling piaggio our warranties are worthless.
puts me off ever buying another new guzzi or aprillia.
I am sure you could argue that the dealership has closed so you can’t really do much about it. The scooter centre in Maidenhead has stopped trading MG’s.
